Our made-in-house botanical body wash is handcrafted in small batches from a base of pure Castile soap. Comprised predominantly of olive oil, this body wash is rich in oleic and linoleic fatty acids, making it an excellent choice for dry and aging skin. The addition of coconut oil creates a bubbly lather that gently cleanses thanks to lauric acid's antibacterial properties. Enriched with botanical extracts grown in Corrales, NM for free-radical protection and an anti-inflammatory effect.

Rosemary Mint for morning washes (invigorating, focus-enhancing, and with a slight tingling effect from the natural menthol found in mint extract).

Not your typical body wash

Most body washes on the market today are not soap-based but rather syndets (synthetic detergents). Syndets use sulfates and other foaming agents to produce a large lather, but consequently tend to cause irritation for those with sensitive skin or skin conditions like eczema or psoriasis. Many (like sodium laureth sulfate) also carry the risk of contamination with 1,4-dioxane, a carcinogenic byproduct of the chemical ethoxylation that syndets often undergo.

In contrast, our Castile-based body wash is made using the traditional hot-process method of soap making that originated in the 11th century in Castile, Spain. We believe this to be a safer choice for those with eczema/psoriasis, as well as those looking to avoid exposure to 1,4-dioxane. Although Castile-based soaps and body washes are higher in pH than the epidermis, their effect on the acid mantle is fleeting when used briefly as a rinse-off product in the shower. That said, we do not recommend using this product as a bubble bath, since soaking in Castile-based products can have a greater pH-altering effect on the skin.

Ingredients: saponified organic oils of extra virgin olive, virgin coconut, and castor seed; palm-free vegetable glycerin; sodium chloride; sucrose; herbal extracts of rosemary & mint or lavender & sage; essential oil blend; < 0.5% Neolone PE (broad-spectrum antimicrobial).

Free of sulfates, synthetic surfactants, foaming agents, parabens, formaldehyde, dyes, PEGs, polysorbates, and synthetic fragrance.

Packaging: 8 oz and 16oz recyclable PET bottle with pump top. Also available in half and full gallons in a glass growler with pump top.
